Multi-Character Chat
AICHIKI allows you to expand a one-on-one chat into a multi-character scene by inviting additional characters. This creates a group roleplay with several characters and your identity (your persona).
This guide explains exactly how to use the feature and what to expect.
1. Start a Chat Normally
- Open any character's profile and tap Start Chat
- This creates your base conversation
2. Open the Chat Menu
- Inside the chat, tap the three dots in the top-right corner
- A menu will slide up
- Choose Invite Character
3. Select the Character You Want to Invite
You'll see a full list of characters:
- Bookmarked characters appear at the top
- You can scroll or use the search bar
Tap INVITE to select a character.
You can invite as many characters as you want.
4. Set the Scene for Their Entrance
After tapping INVITE, you'll be taken to a page where you write the instructions for how the invited character should enter the story.
This text tells the system:
- How the new character appears
- What they know about the situation
- Their relationship (if any) to your identity or the other characters
- Why they are joining
- What is happening in the scene at that moment
You can write in first or third person and choose any style you want.
Examples:
- "You hear shouting and rush into the dungeon corridor."
- "She enters the library quietly and notices the two of you talking."
- "My identity knows you, so you recognize us immediately."
- "He arrives because he has been searching for the king as well."
When finished, tap INVITE again in the top-right corner.
5. Wait a Few Seconds
There is no loading screen yet, so the app may appear still. This is normal.
The system is processing your invitation in the background.
After a short wait, the chat will update and show:
- Your instruction message
- The new character's first reply
- A confirmation that they have been added to the chat
6. Viewing Invited Characters
The top header will now show small icons representing every character currently in the chat — including the original one and any invited characters.
These icons serve two purposes:
- To show which characters are currently in the chat
- To remove a specific character (swipe right on the character row, then tap the X)
7. Removing a Character
To take a character out:
- Swipe the row of character icons to the right
- Press X next to the character you want to remove
They will leave the chat immediately, but the conversation continues with the remaining characters.
How the System Chooses Who Speaks
AICHIKI decides who answers next based on:
- The context of the scene
- What is happening in your messages
- Which character fits the moment
You can also directly address a specific character in the group if you want that one to reply.
Known Limitation
The system may sometimes prioritize the character the chat was originally started with. This is a known limitation and will be improved in upcoming updates.
Current Limitations
This feature has been in AICHIKI for a while, but due to other priorities — system upgrades, major bug fixes, and core stability improvements — it hasn't yet received its full update.
As a result, it still has some known issues:
All replies may show the original character's avatar and name — even when another character is answering.
The AI tends to prioritize the original character — it may forget about invited characters, respond mostly as the first character, or struggle to keep multiple voices active at once.
It may ignore when you directly address a specific character — because the system still defaults to the original character's priority.
Group roleplay may feel inconsistent — the system was built earlier and hasn't yet been modernized for complex multi-character scenes.
INFO
All of these issues are planned to be fixed in a future update once higher-priority improvements are completed.
Summary
Inviting characters allows you to build larger, more dynamic scenes:
- Expand any chat into a group conversation
- Guide each character's entrance
- Add as many characters as you want
- Remove characters anytime
- Address specific characters directly (with current limitations)
- Continue the story with your identity included
Even with its current limitations, the feature already supports rich multi-character storytelling and will be improved further.
