What is an Identity—and Why Do I Need One?
An identity is your personal avatar in AICHIKI. It's how you appear during conversations and roleplays with AI characters. You'll need at least one to start chatting—but don't worry, it's quick to set up.
What's Included in an Identity?
Each identity contains:
- A name (how you appear to characters)
 - A bio (a short description of your character or persona)
 - An optional image
 - A generated or uploaded avatar

Why Identities Matter
Identities shape the tone and context of your conversations. This is especially important in roleplay, storytelling, or character-driven chats.
Characters will:
- Read your bio to understand your personality, tone, and background
 - Characters can see your identity name, but they won't use it unless your identity introduces themselves—unless the roleplay context clearly establishes that your identity and the character already know each other (for example: they're siblings, family members, or longtime friends).

Even though AI characters know who you are, they'll behave as if they don't—unless your identity introduces themselves, or the roleplay context clearly establishes that they already know each other (like being siblings, partners, or close friends). Just like a real roleplay.
How to Create an Identity
Go to your Profile or wait for the app to prompt you after signup
Tap "Create New Identity"
Enter:
- A name
 - A bio describing your character, tone, or background
 - Upload or generate an image (optional, for you only)

Tap Save

💬 Characters will see your name and bio in-chat. Use the bio to shape how they interact with you!
Switching Between Identities
Every time you start a new chat, a popup will ask you to select both identity and language
You can choose any identity and language combination for each chat
Once a chat begins, you cannot change identities mid-conversation

Smart Defaults
You can set a default identity and preferred language in Settings. If you set both, the app won't ask you to choose each time—chats will start immediately with your defaults.
User Tip
Want to try different roles or moods? Create multiple identities for different storylines—fantasy, sci-fi, dramatic, casual, flirty, and more.
