Editing Your Character: What Can and Can't Be Changed
Yes—you can edit your character, but with a few important rules to keep things fair for other users, especially if your character is public.
What You Can Edit
You can update or tweak:
- Bio (background, personality, details)
 - Opening scene or greeting
 - Picture (upload a new one or generate again)
 - Minor changes to name or description, as long as it doesn't become an entirely new character

What You Can't Change (in some cases)
If your character is (or was ever) public, and other users have chatted with it, you can't make major changes like:
- Changing the name entirely
 - Rewriting the character into a completely different personality
 - Changing the image to a totally different character type

INFO
Why? Because other users may have formed connections or stories with that character. Drastic changes could cause confusion or disappointment.
Updating the Picture
To change your character's picture:
Tap Upload to choose one from your device or
Tap Generate to create a new one using AI
- A prompt will be auto-filled using your character's bio
 - You can choose from styles like Anime, Realistic, 3D, Chibi, Fantasy, Photo
 - Generate multiple options until you find one you like
 - All generated images will stay saved in the picture generator for up to 1 day, in case you want to return and pick a different one

Editing Rules Based on Visibility
If the character is Private and has never been made public, you can edit it freely—including major changes
If no one else has chatted with it, you can also delete it entirely
Public Character Deletion Policy
While you always maintain ownership rights to your characters, characters that have been made public and have interacted with other users follow special deletion rules to protect the experience of users who've engaged with them.
Deletion Rules
Private characters (never made public & no chats with others): ✅ Can be deleted immediately at any time.
Public characters (with at least one user interaction): ❌ Cannot be deleted instantly. They follow a staged deletion process:
Step 1: Character is set to Private
- If not already private, it becomes hidden from public lists.
 - No new users can start chats.

Step 2: Wait for Inactivity
- Existing conversations remain accessible to users who previously chatted with the character.
 - These conversations must become inactive for at least 1 month before deletion continues.

Step 3: Final Deletion
- Once all chats are inactive and frozen, the character becomes eligible for permanent deletion.
 - If any chat remains active, the character will be kept in a private, locked state.

WARNING
Popular characters with continuous active conversations may stay in this "locked-private" state indefinitely.
Important Notice When Making a Character Public
When you publish a character to the public:
- You will be notified that public characters with user interactions are difficult to fully delete.
 - Even if you set the character back to private, it may remain on the platform for as long as users continue to interact with it.

This policy helps preserve story continuity for users who've developed bonds or long-term roleplay arcs with your character.
